NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – An 83-year-old man died and an 81-year-old man was seriously injured in an apartment fire on the Upper East Side on Wednesday morning, officials said.
The fire broke out on the second floor of a building at East 82nd Street and Second Avenue around 8:30 a.m., FDNY Deputy Assistant Chief Michael Ajello said.

About 200 members of the department responded to the three-alarm fire, according to Ajello.
"Our first unit arrived in approximately 4 minutes, faced with a heavy fire condition on the second floor," he said. "Our units stretched lines, raised ladders and performed searches."
