NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Police are searching for a man accused of trying to sexually assault an 11-year-old girl after dragging her into a Queens alleyway on Sunday.
The incident happened at 8:45 a.m. on 86th Street near Northern Boulevard in the Jackson Heights neighborhood.
According to police, the 11-year-old was walking to the grocery store when an unknown man approached her from behind, grabbed her by the throat and removed her face mask.
He then dragged the girl into a nearby alleyway and threw her to the ground, police said.
While on the ground, authorities say the attacker pressed a sharp metal object to the girl's throat while making "threatening sexual statements" and demanding the victim reveal her age.
Police did not say if the victim responded.
However, the suspect eventually stopped his assault and proceeded to remove the girl's house keys, $20 in cash and a reusable grocery bag.
The suspect fled on foot heading northbound on 86th Street, according to cops.

EMS responded and transported the girl to NYC Health + Hospitals / Elmhurst to be treated for a laceration to her throat. Her condition was not immediately known.
The unidentified attacker was captured on surveillance footage fleeing the scene. He was wearing dark-colored clothing, white sneakers and a dark-colored hat.
