NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man and woman, both 78 years old, were found shot to death at a residential high-rise on the Upper East Side, police said Thursday.

NYPD officers made the chilling discovery as they responded to a 911 call shortly after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at 1623 Third Ave. in the Yorkville Towers.

The pair was already dead by the time officers arrived at the seventh-floor apartment, police said. Both of them had been shot in the head.

A firearm was recovered at the scene, according to police.

The circumstances surrounding their deaths are under investigation.

They haven’t yet been identified, and their relationship wasn’t immediately known.
