
NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man was arrested on Thursday night in connection to the shooting of an off-duty NYPD officer in Yonkers as a result of an argument between the two, police said.
Bryan Martinez, 30, of Port Chester, was charged with attempted murder after investigations found that he fired approximately 13 shots, with one striking an officer in the arm on Nov. 14.
Yonkers Police received a report of a shooting near the Saw Mill River Parkway and Tompkins Avenue at around 11:30 a.m.
Another report followed about a man being treated for a gunshot wound to his arm.
The victim, an off-duty NYPD officer, 27, was found with a gunshot wound to his right arm. He had driven himself to the hospital after being shot while sitting in traffic near the Parkway.
Investigators found that the victim was targeted from behind by a gunman who fired approximately 13 shots, with one striking him in the arm.
A car linked to the shooting was identified after the incident. After further investigation, he was formally arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon.
The NYPD officer, whose name has not been released, was treated for his injuries and has since been released from the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
