NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 28-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly brutally beating a 79-year-old man on a Brooklyn sidewalk in September, leaving him with injuries to which he ultimately succumbed, the NYPD said Thursday.
James Woods, 28, of downtown Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with assault in connection with the attack against Angel Diaz, 79, on Wednesday, police said.
Police say Diaz was on the sidewalk near his apartment on Hoyt Street, near Schermerhorn Street, in downtown Brooklyn around 9 p.m on Sept. 13 when Woods approached him and punched him, knocking him to the ground.

Woods kept punching Diaz in the head after he knocked him down, the NYPD said. Diaz was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition, but was later transferred to a second hospital, police said.
He was pronounced dead on Oct. 29, the NYPD said.
Woods' attorney information wasn't immediately available Thursday.
