NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A man was arrested for the fatal shooting of 26-year-old model and singer Imani Sharpless after she was shot in the head during a dispute over a parking spot in Brooklyn on Sept. 9, police said.
Qunicy Davis, 58, was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon on Tuesday.
The incident happened around noon when police responded to a 911 call that a man and woman had been shot near the Bedford-Stuyvesant Home Depot. Officers found Sharpless with a gunshot wound to her head and her boyfriend Cordel McDuffie with a gunshot wound to his knee.
Sharpless was pronounced dead five days later.
The gun used in the fatal shooting was found near the scene and Davis's clothing was found in a nearby dumpster, police said.
"I am just relieved to now have some form of closure knowing this coward is in custody, and is one step closer to spending the rest of his existence rotting in a toilet-fitted closet," McDuffie told 1010 WINS.
Davis had two past stints in prison under the alias Cliff Alston, the Daily News reported. He was sentenced to two years in prison for criminal possession of stolen property in 1993 and was convicted of robbery and weapons possession in 1986.
