NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 2-year-old boy was found safe Friday after an SUV he was in was stolen in Brooklyn, police said as they cuffed the alleged car thief on a slew of charges.
The red Nissan Pathfinder was stolen around 10:40 a.m. at 480 Sutter Ave. in East New York.
A man hopped inside the idling vehicle as the toddler was in the backseat, according to the NYPD.
The boy's 32-year-old mother told police what had happened and they were able to locate the SUV about a mile away—at Wyona Street and Liberty Avenue—a short time later.
A 34-year-old Brooklyn man, Maurice Stephens, was arrested for the theft of the car. He was charged with grand larceny, kidnapping, criminal possession of stolen property and endangering the welfare of a child.
