NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The superintendent of a Manhattan building was assaulted after he confronted a package thief last week, police said.
Just after 5 p.m. on Dec. 7, a man was able to enter a residential building on 75 Bleecker Street in NoHo by ringing multiple buzzers, authorities said.
Once inside, the man started picking up several packages from the hallway floor before he was confronted by the 69-year-old super, according to officials.
The thief then threw the packages at the super, hitting him in the side of his face. When the victim fell to the ground, the man continued to assault him by punching him with a closed fist, cops said.
The suspect also allegedly took a baseball bat from the victim and menaced him with it, along with a knife.
Cops said the man they are looking for has a medium complexion and looks to be in his 40s. He’s about 5’9” tall and 175 pounds with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a red sweatshirt, red sweatpants, black and white sneakers, black baseball hat, black face mask and glasses.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
