NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 4-month-old Brooklyn girl died a week after she suffered head trauma while her mother's boyfriend was watching her — and the boyfriend has been charged in connection with her death, according to police and a report.
Ricardo Price, 23, was watching 4-month-old Royalty Kemp inside their Roosevelt Houses apartment in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 8:15 p.m. on June 21 when she suffered head trauma, the NYPD said.
The New York Post reported that Price "repeatedly shook his leg to get [Kemp] to quiet down" as she was lying on his lap while he played video games, citing information from police.
Kemp "bounce[d] off his knee numerous times" as a result, according to the outlet.
Two days later, on June 23, Price and his girlfriend brought Kemp to NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull, the NYPD said. Kemp was pronounced dead on July 1, police said.
Price was arrested and charged with one count of attempted murder, three counts of assault, one count of reckless assault on a child and one count of acting in a manner injurious to a child less than 17 years of age on June 24, the NYPD said Tuesday.
His attorney information wasn't immediately available. An investigation is ongoing.
