The NYPD announced the arrest of Micah Beals, 37 of Manhattan, who was charged early Monday morning with second-degree criminal mischief

The 10-foot-tall statue of Floyd was covered found covered in paint Oct. 3. The monument is part of the "SEEINJUSTUCE" installation, which also features busts of Breonna Taylor and late Congressman John Lewis.

Police soon after released surveillance video showing a person riding a skateboard and carrying a paint can, who then throws gray paint on the statue.

Additional footage released a week later showed the suspect entering the F line's 14th Street subway station.

The man then fled on the skateboard, heading northbound on the west side of Union Square Park, police said.

The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force investigated the crime, and announced the charges on Twitter.

The statue was previously vandalized with spray paint after it was unveiled in Brooklyn back in June.
