NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A Maryland man was charged with murder on Friday after shooting model Imani Sharpless during a dispute over a Home Depot in Brooklyn on Sept. 9, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced.
Quincy James Davis, 58, got into a heated argument over a parking spot around 12:00 p.m. at a Home Depot parking lot on 230 Nostrand Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
After the argument, the man, Sharpless’ boyfriend, involved parked his car and went inside the store. Davis allegedly followed him but left the store soon after.
Once the man left Home Depot and returned to his parked car, where his girlfriend, 26-year-old Sharpless, was waiting, he drove to Willoughby Avenue and Sandford Street.
At that moment, Davis walked up to their car, approached the driver's side, and fired shots.
The driver was hit in the leg and back, while Sharpless was shot in the head.
She was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County but died on Sept. 14.
“Imani Sharpless was a young woman with her whole life ahead of her. She died senselessly after this defendant allegedly callously opened fire on two innocent people over a minor dispute, leaving her family and friends heartbroken. We will now seek to bring the defendant to justice,” Gonzalez said.
David was indicted on charges of murder, attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.
The judge ordered the defendant to be held without bail and scheduled his next court appearance for Jan. 19, 2024.
If convicted Davis could face a sentence of up to 25 years to life in prison.
