NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Authorities are investigating the killing of George Dourdounas, 75, a retired teacher who had lived in his Queens building for 30 years before he was allegedly killed by his neighbor.
Dourdounas was found around 1:40 p.m. Tuesday in a first-floor hallway of his building on 33rd Street in Astoria with fatal slash wounds to his neck.
His neighbor, 48-year-old Dimitrios Manessis, was charged with murder hours after Dourdounas was found.
Witnesses described a scene of pure chaos, with one neighbor recalling the chilling moment they woke up to a woman "screaming hysterical, crying" in the street.
According to local residents, the two men—who both lived on the first floor—had been involved in a "long-standing feud," though the specific cause of their ongoing conflict remains unclear.
