NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man spotted a trio of thieves stealing his scooter after he parked it in front of a building in the Bronx — but wasn’t able to get it back when he chased after them, surveillance video shows.
The 40-year-old man parked the scooter in front of a building on East Gunhill Road, near Sexton Place, in the Laconia section of the Bronx around 6:30 p.m. on June 17 and went inside, the NYPD said Friday.
Not long after, one of the thieves hopped on the scooter and started wheeling it away as his two accomplices — both of whom were on their own scooters — waited nearby, police said.
When the man ran back out of the building and tried to stop the thief, one of the accomplices hit the man with their scooter, the NYPD said.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
