NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A Manhattan father was killed when his e-scooter collided with a turning truck on Houston Street over the weekend, police said Sunday.

The 43-year-old victim was riding his standup e-scooter westbound on East Houston in NoHo just before 8 a.m. Saturday when a Ford E350 van truck headed eastbound on Houston turned left onto Lafayette Street in front of him.

The scooter rider lost control, fell to the roadway and slid underneath the passenger side of the truck, where he was hit by the rear tires, police said.

He suffered traumatic head injuries and was pronounced dead at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue.

Police identified him as Joseph Bellaflores, of the East Village, who was reportedly a father of two headed to work at the time of the crash.

The truck driver remained at the scene after the collision, police said.

No arrests had been reported Monday as the investigation continued, police said.
