Pedestrian killed by NJ Transit train

ROSELLE PARK, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a New Jersey Transit train in Roselle Park Sunday morning.

The pedestrian was struck east of Roselle Park station near Galloping Hill Road around 9:50 a.m., according to officials.

None of the 40 passengers on board the train were injured, the transit company told NJ.com.

NJ Transit sent an alert that Raritan Valley Line service was suspended in both directions between Cranford and Newark around 10:16 a.m.

Service has since resumed, though commuters might experience delays.

“Raritan Valley Line rail service has resumed in both directions between Cranford and Newark Penn Station and is subject to up to 30-minute delays following a pedestrian fatality near Roselle Park,” read a notice on the New Jersey Transit’s website.

Law enforcement is investigating the incident.
