NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A man dragged a woman to the ground and beat her after following her onto an elevator at an apartment building in Upper Manhattan last week.
The NYPD released an image Thursday of the suspect they’re searching for in the attack last Thursday morning at Hamilton Place and West 142nd Street in Hamilton Heights.
The man trailed the 24-year-old victim onto the elevator around 7 a.m.
When she got off the elevator, he dragged her to the ground, police said. As she was on the ground, he beat the back of her head repeatedly.
He also tried to snatch her bag but ultimately fled the building empty-handed.
The suspect was last seen entering a gray vehicle, police said.
The victim was transported to an area hospital with a laceration to her head.
