NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An unidentified man fell to his death from the roof of a supportive housing building by Times Square on Saturday morning, according to the FDNY.

The man fell around 6:50 a.m. on 43rd Street near 8th Avenue and was pronounced dead on the scene, officials said.

He plunged from the roof of an affordable apartment building called The Times Square with supportive services for formerly homeless people, people with serious mental illness and those living with HIV/AIDS.

The building was a grand hotel until the non-profit Breaking Ground bought it in 1991 and made it its flagship supportive housing residence.

It's currently the largest permanent supportive housing residence in the country.
