NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Police are investigating after a man was found dead on a park bench on the Lower East Side Thursday morning.
Just after 6 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of an unconscious man inside of Little Flower Playground located on Madison and Jefferson streets.
Upon arrival, officers observed an unidentified, unconscious and unresponsive man, approximately 40-years-old, sitting on a park bench with no signs of visible trauma.
EMS pronounced the man dead on the scene.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death and an investigation remains ongoing.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.
