NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man was held down and slashed by a man and woman in Washington Square Park early Saturday morning, police said.
The 21-year-old victim had "tried to intervene" when he saw the two suspects fighting in the Greenwich Village park around 3 a.m., police told the New York Post.
But the good gesture led to a fight between the victim and the man.
The victim was eventually held to the ground by the woman as the man slashed him with a knife, police said.
The victim suffered slash wounds to his elbow and back. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, according to the report.
Police were still searching for the man and woman on Saturday. They're believed to be in their 30s.
