NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is looking to identify a man for impersonating a police officer and stealing money from two people wanting to rent out an apartment in the Bronx last month, authorities said.

The victims agreed to rent the location and gave the suspect $2,000 in cash.

Prior to leaving, the suspect told the victims that he was a police officer and that he would email them a receipt for the transaction at a later time.

The suspect, who was not authorized to make any sales, then fled with the victims’ money.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
