NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 27-year-old man was indicted in the stabbing of another man at an East Village subway station in September, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced Wednesday.
Raymond Kwok was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
According to court documents, at approximately 8:43 p.m. on Sept. 20, Kwok and the man argued after bumping into each other while the man was walking downstairs at the 1st Avenue L train station.
A few moments later, as the man continued walking, Kwok stabbed him in the back, causing a cut, bleeding and pain, proscutors said.
The man was eventually transported to NYC Health + Hospitals / Bellevue where he received stitches.
Kwok fled the scene but was arrested on Sep. 23. While arrested, officers recovered a switchblade from his right pants pocket, officials said.
"Raymond Kwok allegedly stabbed a subway rider in a brutal attack," DA Bragg said. "New Yorkers relying on public transportation deserve to be safe and violence in our transit system, especially with dangerous weapons, will not be tolerated. I wish the victim a full and speedy recovery."
