The 25-year-old victim was waiting for a 6 train at the 14th Street–Union Square station around 10 p.m. when a man crept up behind him and shoved him off the platform.

The push was entirely unprovoked, according to police.

The victim was not struck by a train and did not make contact with the electrified third rail.

He managed to make it back onto the platform and was transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. He suffered minor injuries, police said.

The shover fled the station in an unknown direction. Police continued to search for him Tuesday.
