Man killed, another wounded in lower Manhattan shooting near police headquarters

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Two men were shot, one fatally, near NYPD headquarters in lower Manhattan on Saturday evening, and officials are searching for the gunman.

Just before 7:15 p.m. police responded to Madison Street and Saint James Place, one block from police headquarters at 1 Police Plaza, after receiving reports of an assault.

Upon arrival, officers found an unidentified man shot in the neck, and a 30-year-old man shot in the lower body.

Both victims were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue.

The man with the neck wound was transported in critical condition and pronounced dead at the hospital. The 30-year-old victim is stable.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
