NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man was stabbed and beaten to death early Monday morning at an intersection in the Times Square area, police said as they searched for his killer.
The 23-year-old victim was stabbed just after 1 a.m. at West 49th Street and Seventh Avenue, right by the N/R subway station, according to police.
He was also beaten with a baseball bat, law enforcement sources said.
He suffered multiple stab wounds to the back and right thigh, police said. He was found lying on the street.
EMS transported him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified as Daevon Silva, of Rhode Island.
A knife was recovered on the street, according to the NYPD, which said the stabbing may have happened during a dispute.
No arrests had been reported as of Monday. Police were investigating into the morning and canvassing for surveillance footage.
The killing, which may have been sparked by a dispute, was the second homicide in Midtown the past day. Gibson Winters, 39, was fatally shot outside of a nightclub at West 46th Street and 12th Avenue in Hell's Kitchen around 4 a.m. Sunday.
