NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A driver was killed when his car flipped and burst into flames after crashing into a high school on Staten Island late Tuesday night, officials said.
At approximately 11:40 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a vehicle on fire in front of Susan E. Wagner High School. High School, located at 1200 Manor Road in the Manor Heights neighborhood.

Upon arrival, officers observed an overturned vehicle engulfed in fire.
FDNY officials extinguished the fire and extracted an unidentified man from inside of the vehicle.
EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation determined that the male was operating a 2020 Dodge Challenger traveling southbound on Manor Road at an apparent high rate of speed and swerving when he lost control, struck the wall of the high school, and overturned, resulting in the vehicle catching on fire.
The Department of Buildings responded to the scene and determined that there is no structural damage to the school.
The Medical Examiner will confirm the identity of the victim.
The NYPD's Highway District Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
