NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A man pulled off a teenage girl’s hijab in Manhattan last month, and the NYPD released photos of the suspect on Wednesday to help in its aggravated harassment investigation.
At noon on Sunday, April 28, a 17-year-old girl was walking westbound on East 44th Street toward Second Avenue when she was approached by a stranger who ripped her hijab off her head.
“You don’t need to be wearing that here,” the man yelled at her before fleeing northbound on Second Avenue, police said.
The girl was not physically injured in the attack, officials said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
