NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A Pennsylvania man pleaded guilty to shoving an
85-year-old man onto the subway tracks at the Rockefeller Center station, prosecutors announced on Tuesday.

Brittan Jones, 30, pleaded guilty on Monday to one count of attempted assault, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Jr. said.

“Today, Brittan Jones is facing accountability for shoving an 85-year-old man onto the subway tracks at the Rockefeller Center station,” Bragg said. “Every New Yorker deserves to be safe in our subway system, and those who jeopardize their safety will be held accountable.”

According to court documents, on Nov. 16, 2024,  at 5:40 a.m. Jones got into an argument with the victim who was sleeping on the bench of the Rockefeller Center southbound platform. The situation escalated when Jones pushed the victim into the subway tracks before fleeing the scene, according to prosecutors.

After a witness called 911, emergency responders from the FDNY, MTA, and NYPD quickly arrived at the scene to rescue the victim from the subway tracks. He was transported to Mount Sinai West, where he was treated for injuries, including a fractured right hip.

Jones is expected to be sentenced on Dec. 18, to a promised sentence of seven years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision.
