NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man died Sunday after jumping into the Hudson River, officials said.
According to the NYPD, the man plunged into the river at about 9 a.m. Sunday morning at Pier 45 at Hudson River Park, located in Greenwich Village.
Police said that there were two witnesses, one of which was trying to “talk him down," though the man's motives could not yet be commented on.
FDNY officials rescued the man at about 10 a.m. and he was transported by emergency personnel to Lenox Hill Hospital in critical condition, police said.
The man was pronounced dead at about 1:45 p.m.
There is no information regarding the man’s identity or demographic markers at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing and there appears to be no criminality.
