NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Shocking video released by the NYPD on Wednesday showed a man violently punching and stabbing another during a dispute on a Brooklyn street.
The incident was reported on Wednesday, Aug. 25 around 11:15 a.m. in front of a grocery store on Mermaid Avenue in Coney Island.
Video showed the 27-year-old victim walking on the sidewalk in front of the shop as the attacker quickly approaches from behind.
The attacker is then seen violently punching the victim in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.
According to police, the unidentified man then produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the torso.
Authorities say the two were involved in a dispute prior to the attack but did not say what the argument was about.
The suspect fled the scene heading westbound on Mermaid Avenue.
EMS responded and the victim was transported to NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a Black male, 5'10" and 200 lbs.
He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a red shirt, black pants and black sneakers.
