NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Police are searching for a man who they say raped a woman after asking her for directions in the South Bronx on Monday morning.

The NYPD released an image Tuesday of the suspect wanted in the 1 a.m. sex attack in Mott Haven.

The 35-year-old woman was walking in the area of East 149 Street and Bergen Avenue when her attacker approached and asked for directions, police said.

He then raped her at the scene before fleeing on foot, according to police.

She was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in stable condition.

The NYPD's Bronx Special Victims Squad is investigating.
