NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Police are searching for a suspect who fled the scene of an attempted robbery in Queens late Friday afternoon after shooting a man who intervened.
At about 5:20 p.m., a suspect entered and tried to rob a convenience store, located at 145-18 243rd St. near Mayada Road in Rosedale.
A 49-year-old man got involved and tried to stop the perpetrator, though it was not immediately clear whether he worked at the store, One Stop Smoke & Convenience, or was a Good Samaritan.

The attempted robber fired two shots, the first of which hit the victim in his left shoulder. The second shot missed, and the suspect fled the store on foot.
The victim was transported by EMS to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in stable condition, officials said.
Police are searching for the suspect, and released media depicting the man on Saturday morning.
The suspect is described by police as having a medium build and black hair, and he was last seen wearing a waist-length black jacket, tan jogging suit and white sneakers.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
