NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man was stabbed in the stomach Wednesday as he confronted a man urinating in broad daylight in the West Village—just the latest person to be attacked for calling out a public urinator.
The NYPD released images Thursday of the suspected stabber, who remains at large.
The 27-year-old victim was standing at 63 Downing St. shortly after 4 p.m. when he saw the other man urinating in front of the building.
He confronted the man, who took a sharp object and plunged it into the right side of his stomach, police said.
The stabber fled southbound on Varick Street after the attack.
The victim was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue for treatment.
This isn’t the first public urinator to go on the attack when confronted in recent weeks.
In the East Village in late January, a public urinator armed with a box cutter slashed open the neck of a 66-year-old man who’d called him out for peeing on a car.
And in Inwood, a public urinator hopped in a car and mowed down an NYPD officer after cops caught him in the act.
