NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Officials arrested a man accused of stabbing his neighbor with a machete during a fight in an Upper Manhattan apartment building early Friday morning , authorities said.
According to police, at around 1:10 a.m., Phillip Ocana, 54, allegedly stabbed the man, 43, in the hands and arms during an argument in their building located at 520 West 180th St. in Washington Heights.
The victim transported himself to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released.
Ocana was also taken to an area hospital to be treated for head bruises and cuts to the hand and face, cops said.
Ocana was charged with assault, police said.
The victim was also taken into custody but has not yet been charged, officials said.
It was unclear what led to the dispute.
