NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A man is wanted for repeatedly stabbing another man in the Bronx late Friday afternoon in a failed robbery attempt, police said.
A 35-year-old man was in the vicinity of University Avenue and West Fordham Road in University Heights when he got involved in a verbal dispute with a stranger.
The suspect tried to snatch what police referred to as a "large sum of money" from the victim, and when unsuccessful, began stabbing him repeatedly.
The 35-year-old was knifed in the chest, arm and thigh and was transported by EMS to Saint Barnabas Hospital with five stab wounds. He is in stable condition.

Police said that the would-be robber fled on foot traveling northbound on Aqueduct Walkway.
Authorities described the suspect as having a large build, and he was last seen wearing a black baseball cap and all-black attire. He can be seen in surveillance images released by police Saturday in hopes that someone recognizes him.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
