NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man stole a police car in New Jersey, leading police on a chase through New York City before crashing early Sunday, police said.
The man stole the cop car in Bayonne around 12:20 a.m. and drove it across the Goethals Bridge onto Staten Island before crossing the Verrazzano Bridge into Brooklyn, police said.
By that time both the NYPD and Port Authority Police were in pursuit.
The man headed into Sunset Park, where he collided with a parked car near Fifth Avenue and 23rd Street around 1 a.m., according to police.

One man who witnessed the damaged cars told WNBC he was shocked by the pursuit. "Nothing happens around here. It's a calm neighborhood," he said.
Frank Suarez, 31, was arrested after the crash. He was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and possession of a stolen vehicle.
No injuries were reported.
