NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police are searching for a man who threw a bottle of bleach at seven NYPD officers and a sergeant near a protest in midtown Manhattan.

The NYPD released a surveillance image Wednesday of the man they're looking for in the March 5 incident.

The NYPD officers were at the corner of Fifth Avenue and W. 42nd Street, near Bryant Park, just before 3 p.m. when the man threw a plastic bottle at them, police said.

The officers and sergeant had been assigned to a protest detail at the time, according to police.

No officers were injured, but the liquid caused discoloration to the officers' uniforms, police said.

Earlier this month, police said that bleach was believed to be in the bottle.

The man ran into the 42nd Street–Bryant Park/Fifth Avenue station after throwing the bottle, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
