NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Police released surveillance footage Wednesday of a man suspected of throwing a flaming container at subway riders inside a station in Chelsea.

The fiery chaos unfolded at the West 28th Street 1-line station on the evening of Monday, Feb. 5.

Video shows the suspect holding two containers filled with fire near the turnstiles shortly before 7:40 p.m. that night.

Police said he hurled one of the containers at a group of people who were standing on the southbound platform waiting for a train.

The burning container apparently missed the group, and no one was injured, police said.

The would-be firebug fled on foot and remains at large. He’s believed to be about 35 years old, according to cops.
