NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 35-year-old man who helped his underage girlfriend kill her parents in 2015 was sentenced to 22 years to life in prison, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday.
Jerry Maisonett, who was 29 at the time, shot and stabbed Destiny Garcia’s mother, 38-year-old Rosie Sanchez, and step-father, 40-year-old Anderson Nunez, at their Sheepshead Bay apartment on Dec. 28, 2015. Garcia was only 15 years old at the time.
The couple shot Sanchez in the head and stabbed him in the heart. Nunez was shot twice and stabbed more than 30 times.
Garcia told her cousin about the killings, who then reported the incident to the police. Officers arrested her on Jan. 4, 2016. Maisonett was arrested on Feb. 16, 2016.
Maisonett pleaded guilty to murder charges on Aug. 8, 2022. Garcia was convicted of manslaughter and weapon possession following a jury trial. She’s slated to be sentenced on Aug. 3.
