He struck her in the back with the hammer, police said.

The victim declined transport to a hospital when EMS arrived at the scene.
Just hours before the hammer attack, a 55-year-old man was assaulted with a rock unprovoked near the park on the Upper East Side, police said.
The victim is actor Michael Stuhlbarg, according to sources, who has starred in "Boardwalk Empire" and various films.

He was struck in the neck with a rock around 7:45 p.m. near East 90th Street and East Drive, according to cops.
He chased after his attacker, who was taken into custody near the Russian consulate on East 91st Street, police said.
