NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A man and woman were shot to death on a busy Queens street Thursday evening in an apparent murder-suicide stemming from a lover's quarrel.
The couple—a 46-year-old man and his 42-year-old girlfriend—were found unresponsive by NYPD officers responding to a 911 call shortly after 5:30 p.m. at Drew Street and 101st Avenue in Ozone Park.
They had both been shot in the head, according to police.
The pair were pronounced dead at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jamaica and haven't yet been identified.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing, but it's believed the man shot her and then killed himself.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene, with the two arguing loudly on the sidewalk before the man pulled out a gun and fired the two fatal shots.
A firearm was recovered at the scene by police. Detectives continued to comb the area into the night as residents watched on.
