NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Two people were killed in a fire that tore through a building on Manhattan's Upper West Side late Wednesday night, according to officials.
Just after 11:30 p.m., officials responded to a 911 call of a residential fire inside of the Amsterdam Houses NYCHA complex on West 62nd Street and West End Avenue.
There were 60 firefighters from 12 units that responded to the scene, FDNY said.

Fire Department personnel were able to extinguish a fire inside a 4th floor apartment inside of the six-story building.
Once the flames were extinguished, a 44-year-old man and 70-year-old woman were found inside of the apartment and where both pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
A preliminary investigation by the NYC Fire Marshall has deemed the fire not suspicious at this time.
An investigation remains ongoing.
