NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for a man who started choking a 49-year-old commuter at a Manhattan subway station on Friday after he failed to steal his phone.
The victim was waiting for the northbound A train at the West 34th Street-8th Avenue subway station around 12:37 p.m. when the attacker tried to grab his cellphone, authorities said.
The man was able to hold onto his phone, but the attacker started choking him when he successfully kept it away from him, according to officials.
The suspect reportedly fled out of the station, and the victim refused medical attention on the scene.
