
NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A manhunt is underway after a prisoner allegedly escaped from a Manhattan hospital Wednesday night, authorities said.

According to officials, 35-year-old James Mossetty escaped from NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue at approximately 9:40 p.m.
Mossetty was brought to the hospital on June 5, for a medical issue and was being prepared for transport back to Rikers Island when he escaped.
Mossetty was arrested on Jan. 6, in Manhattan for assault, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and theft of services.

He is described by police as being approximately 5'6" and weighing 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, gray sweatpants, black glasses and black shoes.
The Department of Corrections is working with the NYPD and the U.S. Marshals to apprehend the suspect at large.
