NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — The FDNY put out a fire on a boat that was hooked up to a trailer in a Brooklyn parking lot early Saturday morning, and then discovered that a man’s body was on the vessel, police said.

At 4:54 a.m. emergency personnel responded to a fenced-in parking lot across from Sunny’s Bar in Red Hook, located about a block from Pier 44 at 253 Conover St., and discovered a white boat on fire.

After firefighters put out the blaze they discovered a man onboard the extinguished boat, unconscious and unresponsive. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene, officials said.

The man’s identity is pending family notification and the medical examiner will determine his cause of death.

Fire marshals will determine the cause of the fire.

An investigation into the man's death is ongoing.
