NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A worker was stabbed to death at a Brooklyn shelter Thursday evening, police said as they searched for his masked killer, who remained on the loose Friday.
The 35-year-old worker was attacked around 6:15 p.m. at 1691 East New York Ave., a former Days Inn that is now a homeless shelter in Brownsville.
According to police, a masked man approached the worker from behind and stabbed him in the neck and abdomen before fleeing the scene.
Officers responding to a 911 call found the victim lying on the floor of the lobby. EMS rushed him to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, but he died from his injuries.
The victim's name is being withheld until his family is notified. Police said he was employed by the shelter and not a city employee.
The NYPD described the suspect as around 6 feet tall and 225 pounds. He was wearing all black clothing, a ski mask and a baseball cap.
No arrests had been reported Friday as the investigation continued.
