
VALLEY STREAM, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- A Queens woman was arrested after she allegedly left her two children inside a car at the parking lot of a Long Island mall on Tuesday afternoon, as temps climbed above 90 degrees in the area.
At 4:20 p.m., officials received a 911 called from a witness who observed two young children left unattended in a parked car at Green Acres Mall.
Upon police arrival, officers observed a one-year-old boy and three-year-old girl inside the unlocked vehicle with the engine running.
Responding officers gained access to the children through an unlocked door and requested an ambulance respond to the scene.
Both children were transported to a local area hospital for evaluation.
Lotanna Adjaero, 25, was arrested after an investigation by officers determined that she was responsible for leaving her children unattended.
The children were placed into the custody of a family member.
Adjaero was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and will be arraigned on Wednesday.
