NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are investigating after a motorcycle driver died in a fiery crash with a street pole Tuesday evening on Staten Island, authorities said.
At approximately 7:46 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call of a vehicle collision on Richmond Avenue in the vicinity of Signs Road in Bulls Head.
Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 25-year-old man was driving a 2020 Yamaha motorcycle when he lost control of the roadway and collided with a street light pole in the center median.
EMS transported him to Richmond University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending proper family notification.
