
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating after a motorcycle driver was killed during a collision outside a Brooklyn shopping center on Monday night.
The crash happened at approximately 10 p.m. when police responded to a 911 call of a vehicle collision at 128 Gateway Drive, outside of Gateway Center in East New York, officials said.

A preliminary investigation determined that 36-year-old Lamonte Johnston was traveling northbound on Gateway Drive on a 2018 KTM Sports 390 motorcycle when he struck the front passenger side of a 2010 Ford Escape, which was traveling southbound on Gateway Drive and making a left turn to enter Gateway Plaza Mall.
Johnston was ejected from his motorcycle, sustaining severe head and body trauma.
He was transported by EMS to Brookdale University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The occupants of the Ford Escape included a 34-year-old driver and 40-year-old woman, and 3-year-old girl rear passengers.
All three vehicle occupants sustained minor injuries and were transported by EMS to Brookdale University Medical Center in stable condition.
