NEW YORK (1010 WIN/WCBS 880) – New Yorkers should prepare to laugh their way through their commute as the MTA and New York Comedy Festival (NYCF) team up to bring comedic voices to the subway system in a joint promotion.

Announcements by popular comedians encouraging New Yorkers to take public transit to the 19th annual NYCF will air from Friday until Nov. 10 in 25 different subway stations, the MTA said.

“The subway system, no stranger to having comedic moments of its own, will have some of its funniest riders reminding everyone the best way to get to this year’s comedy festival is mass transit,” said NYC Transit President Richard Davey.

In addition to subway announcements, the NYCF will be featured on digital screens in subway cars and at both Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad stations.

“We thank the MTA for this partnership and encourage everyone to take mass transit to get to over 100 shows in all the boroughs in time to laugh and enjoy,” said Caroline Hirsch, founder and owner of the NYCF.

The MTA is featured on the NYCF website, and will be the subject of social pages, email alerts and public addresses that encourage audience members to use mass transit to attend the shows.

“As a lifelong subway rider, it's an honor to be the voice of the MTA for the three people on the train not wearing headphones to hear,” said actor and comedian Sam Morril.

The NYCF will run from Nov. 3 to Nov. 12 and more information can be found here.
