NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A pipe-wielding man targeted an on-duty MTA worker at a Brooklyn subway station early Thursday—in the latest pipe attack in the transit system.

The NYPD released images Thursday of the suspect they're after in the attack, including footage showing him wielding the metal weapon on the platform.

The victim—a 68-year-old man—was working at the Bergen Street F/G station in Cobble Hill shortly after midnight when the suspect swung the pipe at him, police said.

The attacker missed him, sparking a physical struggle between the two men, during which both fell to the ground.

During the altercation, the suspect punched the worker in the chest and fled the scene, police said.

EMS transported the victim to Cobble Hill Hospital in stable condition.

The attack came just a day after the NYPD released surveillance video of a suspect wanted for two pipe attacks on MTA buses in the Bronx this month.

There’s no indication the attacks in Brooklyn and the Bronx are connected in any way.

The NYPD said this month that major crime rose 7.8% in the subway system in April but that they also remain down 7.8% year over year.
